A huge project. But, the transport will be the major problem.

To ferry VIP's around, the organising body is to take delivery soon of 4,000 BMW's - 3 and 5 series.

In a line, they would extend about 10 miles; its less than 6 from central London to Stratford. Motor cycles are also being provided by BMW; the number is unknown.

Even with designated lanes, the problems are clearly predictable.

It seems that simply allocating tickets is beyond them !!!

What do you mean by "grand success" FC ?

It will be reported as being a success - too much riding on it !

Whether the people of London - who will not be able to move for security personnel and traffic closures - will agree is something else !

Also, when we are paying if off - 50 years after the event - may sour things a little.

I shall be along way away !!!!

Apparently not, FC ! They cant even sell tickets !!!!

From BBC News -

London 2012 has suspended the Olympic ticket resale system on the day it was launched after problems with the official website.

Games organiser Locog said it would reopen once the issues had been fixed.

Earlier, Locog stopped customers from putting Olympic tickets up for resale but it was still possible for people to buy tickets.

The process was designed to allow people to try to resell their unwanted London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic tickets to others willing to buy them.

'Very disappointed'

Although Locog said hundreds of tickets had changed hands, BBC sports news correspondent James Pearce said the majority of those using the website had failed to buy any of the tickets supposedly on sale

I bought 64 tickets about ten minutes ago, which included the 1,500 meters final!

I am opposed to this vast corrupt IOC that hoovers up public monies however I predict:

1. the special lanes to Olympic sites will work well as they have elsewhere with minimal congestion as daytrippers will avoid the areas.

2. the ticket re-sale (you take what you get..not what you want) will eventually work but few people bother changing tickets.

3.The Olympics will be judged a HUGE SUCCESS by the collective media who will be screaming from the hilltops as medals roll in , in an orgy of patriotism.

4. Within months the Olympics will be judged a HUGE FAILURE by the collective media as budgets 'blow-out' (just 'discovered'), cracks appear in stadium roofs and swimming pools, tourists complain of rip-offs and so on..

5. ITK will still be attacking welfare mums but not corporations.

the Olympics are a WIN WIN situation for media who can have it both ways.

I'm not sure what to make of this ... on the one hand I cannot understand why anyone would want even one ticket - let alone 64 (how much did that cost?) ... but on the other hand, if true (and you have managed to do something which the BBC and its huge resources failed to do) it just proves my point that no one wants them and are off-loading them asap !!!!

Indeed, veritas. I DO attack corporations (you just fail to notice) - BUT am fully aware that it is better to receive some tax rather than none at all !

How much do the "welfare mums" contribute?

Are they not just a permanent drain on the resources of the welfare state and the NHS?

Thankfully sport is in our blood, just like music is in JK's.

Four of us will see 16 events at a total cost of just under £1,200.

and that shows you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

I would suggest millions of people want the Olympics..always have and probably always will.

That doesn't excuse how the IOC has governments everywhere over a barrel and spending more than they should.

ps: "welfare mums" pay VAT like everyone else. Every single person who spends one pound is a taxpayer. Indeed "welfare mums", unionists and "contractors" and employees should have the right to base themselves in Litchenstein and minimise their tax.

That's like saying we should give winos more money - because they will always spend it down the pub (so we'll get some of it back !!!)

The point is, we would ALL pay less tax (and less TV license, and less road tax etc etc etc) if we weren't subsidising these spongers.

More than 200 Nations will take part in the London Olympics...there are only about 206 overall. Some posters, here on this site, think several billion people are wasting their time and that its all meaningless. Sport is one of the world's greatest treasures; it has existed since time began and encourages friendship, good health and so many other things. Disabled people can also play an equal part.

you've obviously gone totally balmy for 2012.

billions of people will watch the Olympics on TV.

you compare welfare recipients with "winos".

you want Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy to replace the Royal family.

batshit crazy !!

Perhaps they should spend their money more wisely .... like feeding their own perople maybe ?

Correct

Sport is one of the world's greatest treasures; it has existed since time began and encourages friendship, good health and so many other things.

Such as corruption ?

Disabled people can also play an equal part.

Now you are just being silly !

With the BBC alone planning 2500 hours of coverage - do they have any option ?

I'm already hearing complaints - you can hardly switch the TV on here without someone telling us its only 199 days, 8 hours ... etc (You of course would not know about that as you are in Australia !)

you compare welfare recipients with "winos".

Stop being silly, veritas - YOU said that dolers are tax payers and we should give them money because we get some of the cash back (in tax). I was simply drawing an analagy to show how ridicuous your claim was

you want Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy to replace the Royal family.

shall we ask Disney for a quote? I'm sure it would be cheaper !
