Dale Griffin aka "Buffin" - drummer with Mott The Hoople, Mott & the British Lions, as well as producer of a large number of BBC sessions has died.

This is very sad.

As a life-long Mott The Hoople Fan, I saw him many times, with Mott The Hoople, Mott and British Lions. He played just for the encores at every night of the five 2009 sell-out Hammersmith Odeon (Apollo) shows. He was ill then.

Actually, it's quite sad that he was one of the instigators of the Mott The Hoople Reunion shows - getting all the original members of the band back on stage 35 years after they split-up - only to end up being too ill to play the shows.

And ironic - Bowie and Mott; so closely linked.
