TOPIC: How can the BBC...

How can the BBC... 6 Years, 8 Months ago
allow Sara Cox on the air? Her mindless wittering is painful on the brain, let alone the ears. She really is appallingly trivial as she drivels on at 90mph about housewife issues. Solid evidence that, mostly, women make dreadful DJ's just as men are incapable of giving birth to babies. Politically correct is actually politically disastrous.

Janice long is standing in for someone on Radio Merseyside this week and is fabulous.

Why do you annoy yourself by listening to Sara Cox? Turn over.

Ah Janice - an old friend - I brought the family (the Chegwins) into the music industry.

Did you really? I didn't know that. Lovely people.

Jeff's first job was as teaboy at UK Records (Clive Selwood took him on, as I remember) in the 70s.

Superdrug radio is worse much worse.

ASDA FM, I'm sure it's created to drive the workers to suicide.

BBC have ruined their radio output at least 17 years ago. Fired the veterans and replaced them with younger DJs from Uni and just yell out nonsense.

BBC gave Roger Day an excellent night slot then took it away. He is a superb DJ.

I've never heard Sara Cox, but I used to turn Janice Long off when she was on Radio One.

Annie Nightingale was always preferable.

She's more avoidable when only on in evenings but when she sits in for Evans (who is pretty dreadful himself and starting to self destruct) she is just unbearable. As Honey says - why don't I just turn over to another station? Habit I suppose; morning coffee, Radio Two and PILLS. One of the awful things about age - PILLS!

I like Sara Cox on the sounds of the 80s on radio and tv (red button). She is quite funny and amiable. I've never listen to radio 2 so can't comment on that. Listen to what every right thinking person over 30 listens to, Radio 4.

OK Cox I slightly forgive you as on Monday Bank Holiday you cheered me up by playing my favourite Boss track Thunder Road.

Possibly the best comment ever on this site.

The only R2 'stand-in' who has impressed me of late was Trevor Nelson standing in for Ken Bruce. No coincidence that Trevor is a "proper DJ" and thus combines an enthusiasm for music with the ability to communicate with his audience - unlike the PC z-listers they've otherwise had on for holiday cover on shows with huge audiences that deserve far better.

Something else I cannot stand on R2 - the endlessly repeated trailers, such as Cox gushing about being "on the tellybox". Over and over and f***ing over again.

We are being forcefed idiocy.
