TOPIC: Diana Ross

Diana Ross 1 Year, 10 Months ago
I've only met Diana once when she was the lead singer of a group called The Supremes and I was a pop star called Jonathan - we sat next to each other on a flight coming back from Midem, having both sold millions of singles in the 1960s and had a long chat about the world (which I gather she passed onto her protégée - the lead singer of the Jackson Five).

Diana is a bit, shall we say, matronly looking these days but she sings fine - however she was never a great singer like Aretha or Gladys or Dusty. She was OK but no show ender.

Sadly the real superstars have all passed away. I do think the Queen might have preferred Glenn Miller.

Watching Rod do Neil Diamond reminds me of when I covered Cherry Cherry by a (then) unknown writer Neil Diamond. Then nobody had heard of Rod either - I remember he was a grave digger at the time. Nostalgia - there's nothing like it!

So the BBC have another agenda ?

There's nothing British/English and it's not even football related but Sweet Caroline but it's pushed even on sport betting apps. I wonder if Lady in Red will be used for football next.

I don't know anyone who knows the words properly and know other Neil Diamond songs apart from Girl. You'll Be A Woman Song from Pulp Fiction again the grunge band Urge Overkill made it their own. Not forgetting the dreary Red, Red Wine which most people think is a UB40 song.

Personally I love to Match Of The Day by Genesis used. Remember though my love of Genesis music runs deep. I am still trying find a that weak song and album they did.

Some Youtuber said "It's not a proper Genesis album" erm yes it is. Anthony Phillips was on Trespass also.
