The man playing every UK singles chart Top 40 in full. 9 Months ago
Has anyone heard of this man running Marathon Charts Radio from Sheffield who is aiming to play every single UK Top 40 chart in full since November 1952 (not quite Top 40's in the those earliest days) until the present day when he eventually reaches it. So far he has reached July 1992 so almost has 40 years of UK charts under his belt.

All the charts are available to listen to. It's taken him 4 years so far. A pleasant side effect of the lockdown era. I think it's a magnificent enterprise. Thoughts about this? I myself have dipped into many of them on anniversary dates and played them in full.

What a great idea. I'll be checking some of that out. Thanks for the heads up.

When he finishes he could consider doing the American Billboard Hot 100, which I believe started in 1940. That will give him more than enough to get stuck into for the rest of his life I should think.

Very interesting idea, however I imagine 52-62 been a bit of a drag, and it would become decreasingingly less interesting from 1982 onwards. It doesn't say how often he does the chart show, I'm assuming that he does 1 a day. There would be a lot of repetition with most songs remaining in the chart for several weeks and only a few additions each week. I feel for him when he gets to 1991 and he has to endure Bryan Adam's "Everything I do a do it for you" 17 weeks at number one, let alone all the other weeks in the chart.

1984 was a shit year from memory in both pop and metal.

1984 is widely regarded as one of the best years ever in popular music, and I agree, up there with the best.

This guy playing all the charts is remarkable isn't he. Just discovered the archive on Mixcloud and he's up to 1994 now.

Bumped up for the benefit of MCR, or anyone else interested in some alternate retro entertainment this Christmas and New Year holiday.
