TOPIC: Have I Lost it?

Have I Lost it? 1 Month, 1 Week ago
Watching Kendrick Lamarr in the Superbowl halftime show I could not hear any music. Lots of spectacle and dancing; lots of rather inferior spoken/rapped "poetry"; lots of image and swearing but no music.
No tunes. No lyrics.
Is it because I'm very deaf now (and certain areas of hearing are worse than others which can mean to me some things seem out of tune - the new Pixie Lott tracks for example)?
Or is MUSIC 2025 not really music?

Yes Rich the problem is that these days the music industry is run by people who do not understand the concept of cross over, mass appeal music. So they concentrate on maximising the appeal of limited talent artistes. Millions love and stream certain specific artistes - most of whom only make one or two crossover tracks at most. So the charts and awards are dominated by those few artistes with very limited appeal but who can sell out concert tickets, merchandising and streams to very few millions instead of appealing to a broad cross section of music lovers.

Music seems to cater for people with short attention spans. Even the metal scene is becoming more and more theatrical. Ghost are the new KISS, I have played Ghost serval times but I can't remember anything memorable about their music only their costumes and make up.

If I discover bands that are not mainstream they just end up self promoting and never leaving the club circuit. Many towns and small cathedral cities don't have a music scene just a shitty nightclub if they are lucky. If they have a theatre no doubt it's booked throughout the year for tribute bands, twatty comedians and some obscure folk bands.

Looking at Black Sabbath at Villa Park. If they didn't have Pantera, Metallica, Slayer,Lamb Of God, Anthrax, Billy Corgan. There would be no chance of hell Sabbath filling up a football stadium. It's pretty much one day metal festival in disguise as a Black Sabbath concert.

It's not a cheap one either and refreshments is where the money along with band shirts made in sweat shops.
