Phil Collins 3 Weeks, 5 Days ago
Phil needs to enjoy retirement, he has nothing else to prove he has done it all!

His son Nic, is like his father on the drums and carries on the legacy. If Phil wanted to carry on he could submit songs to other artists. He can send more Genesis archives to be released on home media.

It's clear he does not want to admit defeat but he has tried to kill himself due to back pain but he carries on for his family. It must be hard seeing his former bandmates still touring and Steve Hackett doing world tours.

He was a nasty little sh!t when he wrote his rant about Paul McCartney. Apparently McCartney contacted him to ask why on earth, if he'd been so outraged, he couldn't have discussed it with him privately. Collins replied, publicly, that he thought McCartney would be better served if the story went into the files. What, Phil, you mean like the story of you divorcing your wife by fax? That's in the files, isn't it? He used to be a decent enough bloke, but he really grew very bitter as his career faded away.

I remember Jarvis Cocker making a comment about "the crimes of Phil Collins" many years ago, based on his music. I don't know why he suddenly developed a reputation where people thought they could dismiss him and his work like that. Let's not forget this man was a superstar by the mid eighties massive in both the UK and America topping the charts regularly not just as himself solo with the No Jacket Required album but then following up with Genesis big there too with the Invisible Touch album, both albums producing chart topping American singles, never mind his UK success. Then came But Seriously at the end of the 80s into the 90's and he looked set to continue this massive success, that album spent about 3 months at No1 here. Massive commercial popularity....then it all just seemed to dry up overnight with no more really great success as a solo artist or much with Genesis after the early 90's and what he did put out seemed lame.

I've always wondered why Phil Collins creativity and commercial success took such a dive 30 years ago from his 80's heights here and in the USA.

(Rich, I'm not to be confused with Rick by the way - we are different people!)

Most musicians are bitter and get more bitter when their egos are fractured. I did hear that Macca insulted Collins first, I have no idea to be honest.

People do say he was every where and performed almost every song at Live Aid in the American one. The casuals never understood Genesis or saw how talented he was on the drums like Chester Thompson.

Phil stayed on the say because the bands wanted him.

I know some people who can't tell the difference between Phil Collins Genesis vocal songs or Phil Collins solo stuff.

Jarvis Cocker is not a nice person anyway,he is way up himself and was known to go to Waitrose and wait for yellow labels to hit the shelves.
