TOPIC: Corbyn wipes the floor with Andrew Neil
#162156
Corbyn wipes the floor with Andrew Neil 6 Years, 10 Months ago
"Did you talk to the IRA?"... "yes, talking was the only way to get peace and we got it"... "have you changed your mind on X?"... "yes I adapt as society changes"...

This is an honest, decent, honourable man. I'm even thinking of voting for him. Every time I see or hear May I loathe her more. The opposite with Jeremy.

He is growing in my esteem as the election campaign goes on.

The way he talks about terrorism and foreign policy is mature and adult as opposed to soundbite and 'a good story' (to quote you Mr K)

All politicians find it easy to talk the talk.
The reality of responsibility is totally different if they get into office.

NO ! - Tony Blair (the man the left hate !) got the peace - not Corbyn.

Corbyn has no power or authority - he was simply being antagonistic and difficult, as he has been on numerous occasions.

I agree with you ITK that the media, as usual, are trying to inflate Corbyn's minor involvement in the matter as I'm sure he does too. We'd all prefer to stick to the present situation but when they do try to exaggerate his part he is entitled to defend himself. Whatever - he's coming out of all these situations very well indeed and polls imply people are starting to agree with me, as David does above.

Actually, John Major's government did most of the work on the Irish peace agreement.
That process was later finished by Mo Mowlam.
Tony Blair just came for the photo calls at the end.

We'll see ... I still predict total elimination on Polling Day (loss of at least 75 seats).

The polls still show a Tory win - and only one poll has shown Labour getting anywhere near (and that was just a minor "protest" over the Tory care plans) but when people have to "make a decision" (and ALL polls STILL agree that Corbyn is no leader !) they will vote for May in overwhelming numbers.

PS - Am hearing that "the fat one" (the fruitcake's deputy) is in serious trouble in the West Midlands and will lose his seat.
He currently has a 9,200 majority but there are 8,000 UKIP voters (at the last election) and this time no Ukip candidate !)

The people of the West Midlands - used to be loads of Unions there - seem to have decided that "enough is enough" !

Another "promise them anything because we are not going to win" party ! LOL

Just how is the NHS going to be improved by cutting its income???

Jeremy Fruitcake has voted against every anti-terrorism law.
He has voted against 17 laws designed to prevent terrorism in the UK
including one which outlawed the celebration and approval of terrorist atrocities.

Perhaps they should join together?

Then they will be the Fruit AND Nut cakes !!!

Perhaps they don't just think about themselves and how to bloat out their own riches and produce a better society instead.

have you ever heard a Labour member supporting the so-called bedroom tax ?

5 million people on housing waiting lists and they just want an extra bedroom for themselves (as long as someone else is paying for it !)

It was yet another bandwagon to just on ....

Talk about confirmation bias. Corbyn didn't 'wipe the floor' with Neil, the opposite is more true.

Labour introduced the spare room subsidy for private houses and there are no plans in the referendum to remove it. It is fair in principle but poorly implemented. A single person living in a three bedroom house isn't fair, but there needs to be somewhere for him to move to before it is fair to charge him extra.

And that's the point. I was on benefits with a long-term health condition when I was offered a two-bedroom housing association property. I would happily have taken a one-bed or even a nice bedsit, but was offered this one, with the proviso that if I refused it, I would be taken off the housing list.

To then be hit with the bedroom tax, with money taken from my benefits, as if I was choosing to have a spare room knocking about, made me angry. A call to my council confirmed that there were no one-bedroom places available to downsize to.

The number of single men in two-bedroom properties in my area is huge. Not all are on benefits but several are. The policy was deliberately callous, because if it had been properly thought out and researched, it would have been obvious to everyone that there was nowhere for all these people to downsize to.

I am fortunate in that my long period of mental illness is now largely (but not completely) behind me, and I am back in full time work. Hopefully I will be able to move on in a few years when I have built up enough money, but I do fear for those who are left behind.
