Not perfect of course,but if all these jobs are going to the EU then where are they?...Especially as the EU is struggling....after Brexit a lot of egg may need to be removed from particular faces....

....Leaving the EU was never going to be about finance,except the odd bit of short-term realignment,it was about a dream,and whether it was a price the democratic electorate was prepared to pay....that is the argument Project Fear could never win,and one which Re-moaners have failed to grasp...they were selling negativity,not positivity...and to do that they needed to take a step back,not make themselves look negative,not be seen to be traitors to their own country by talking it down,and encouraging the EU to punish us with the offer of a bad deal....totally the wrong tactics...

Tactics don't interest me; our country will survive and develop - up and down - good and bad - whatever happens. But Brexit will do immense damage in the process of the changes kicking in, financially and socially, deal or no deal. And the attitude (keep foreigners out; our NHS is for us Brits; tighten up borders) is deeply unpleasant and selfish and indeed, for many, closet racist. "No, no", racists will howl, "we have nothing against black, yellow, gay people. All are welcome as long as they contribute". That's the clue. As long as they are useful TO US. As long as they build the economy FOR US. Far worse than the obvious, blatant racists who are too brain dead to conceal their bigotry. The cunning nasties are far more poisonous. Let them in - if they benefit US. I think we should encourage those in need of help, kindness, decency, generosity - they help us by making us unselfish. Bigots don't understand that. "Clamp down on immigration", they hiss, the vipers. Karma will kick in. Build a wall and hide behind it. Cunts.

It is all very complicated.
On the one hand, I believe that letting "useful" people in is a vile (and racist) concept. It dehumanises the migrants, and leaves behind the ones in poverty and distress, who need help the most.

On the other hand, if large numbers of racist, homophobic people are allowed to come and be as racist and homophobic as they jolly well like, it feels like we are supporting that behaviour.

Its not the people (any people) that are the problem. It is how we manage society, with inadequate dont-care policing, and a begrudging benefit system that encourages hatred to those who have the least, that causes bad feeling.
