Men In Black International (and name-dropping) 4 Years, 8 Months ago
a rare visit to the cinema to see the movie.

Bloody awful (didn't JK review it?)

I love special effects. Some where really good but the entire movie was ludicrous.

And what is it with the Hemsworth brothers?

Now for decades and decades I've known a lovely family from Shropshire who upped stakes and moved to Byron Bay in NSW. The father, Nicholas Shand started a local newspaper there just as Byron Bay was beginning to boom.( Nicky died in a car accident)

I've been visiting for years and years, and always when I'd go to Oz..Byron Bay was a must and I'd flop on my friend's floor.. pals who knew everyone in the area . An amazingly unique part of Oz..beautiful land and beach and mad collection of people.

Among those I met were the Hemsworths when they all lived there. These boys- Chris and Liam were good looking young surfers.

Nice lads..we called them "Bogans"..it's a sort of Oz word for..I suppose Chavs.

I have a lovely snap with Chris Hemsworth and another not-famous-brother. Me looking gorgeous and they looking like..every surfer (1000s of them) who live in the area and are brought up there.

It's a unique area..a sort of influx of "alternatives", rich hippie, stoners and then celebs (Paul Hogan who made $millions of property deals) and then the locals..working class people and their kids ( Chris and Liam Hemsworth) are brought up among all these "alternative rich newcomers" and it rubs off.

Now Chris is a fucking huge movie star and yet..he was bloody awful in Men In Black. The entire movie was hideous. Even Liam Neilsen was bad.

## they tell em that place Chris is building is a bloody nightmare and like a shopping centre.
## they also tell me Matt Damon has bought an amazing house up there.
I haven't met him though and probably never will.
He won't be in my book.

I've never felt the urge to watch even the previous Men in Black films. Your reaction to the new one doesn't really surprise me.

Love the word "bogans". Sounds Irish.

You really need to write that book!

Interesting that Matt Damon has bought property in Australia. Wonder if he's planning to film there or just likes the area. (I think he's a very good actor, and discovered several years ago that I was in good company. I saw an interview with Anthony Hopkins, who, when asked which of the younger generation of actors he rated, said Matt Damon, citing his performance in The Talented Mr Ripley. That was in fact the film that had alerted "moi" to Matt Damon being a particularly good actor. He's very sinister in it, but does it very subtly.)
