Why Zoe Ball has lost millions of listeners 4 Days, 7 Hours ago
I just tuned in for the first time in ages. There's nothing wrong with Zoe (a very nice young lady) except she illustrates all the bad qualities of many women broadcasters. Squeaky voice; rattles on too fast; thinks the most important things in life are superficial female things. The exceptions to this rule are several but the majority are simply not very good on TV or radio. Just as men are lousy at giving birth; women are built different. I can't stand women's sports - they are simply not as fast or physical as men (with, again, exceptions - swimming). The feminist movement saying females are males (except when protesting at dinners) has gone to an extreme. As with #MeToo - a bad situation that needed improving (for men too) has become ludicrous. So let's be honest; in broadcasting most women simply are not equipped to compete with men, even though they have makeup, hair, dresses & frocks to assist them.

That's rather too much of an over-generalisation! For one thing, there are plenty of women around who don't have squeaky voices - e.g. Kirsty Young. There are also plenty who don't like wittering on about make-up, babies, mobile phones and cakes, and who appreciate wit, self-mockery and the ironies of life (which is why so many of us, along with male listeners, loved Terry Wogan).

There's certainly still a culture that encourages young women to be superficial and unoriginal - see, for example, the appalling fashion for vocal fry, that horrible croaking way of speaking that so many women start copying and eventually internalise completely because, I suspect, they think it makes them sound more intelligent - and that culture feeds that process.

What is needed is for female broadcasters to stop thinking they have to be 'distinctively female' and talk about different things in a different way (No! Forget gender. Be yourself! Be an individual!) and for senior male broadcasters to realise that their own view of 'typical' women - on both sides of the mic - is hopelessly inaccurate (as inaccurate as thinking that most men are like Gary Davies or Chris Moyles or Johnny Vaughan), and start recruiting female broadcasters who can speak pleasingly and communicate engagingly to a broad audience.

Many women, as well as men, would welcome that!

women are often as equal or in many cases, more intelligent than men.

I agree JK.

The Wimmin's Movement is a fraud ( as opposed to genuine Women's Lib demanding, quite rightly- equal treatment and opportunity where justified).

This was brought home to me meeting an Aboriginal man who told me he was brought up in a Matriarchal Tribe in Arnhem Land where women rule the roost and sit around most of the day formulating plans , ordering the blokes to go out and work and do the heavy lifting.

## speaking of Feminazis,, Satanic Pedo Cult enthusiast Melanie Phillips is rambling on an the Times today about an obscure Muslim trope called Taqiyya which is no part of the religion..a concept where telling lies is justified in pursuit of a cause.

### Perhaps Boris Johnson is suffering from a serious case of it.

IF What you call "female things" are typical of what females enjoy, then they should take up half the broadcasting time, shouldn't they?

Most of the women broadcasters I can think of dont have squeaky voices, but are rather hoarse .

I think we should celebrate the squeakiness. Feminism seems to be more and more about acting like a bloke.
Feminism my arse!

Reminds of Superdrug Radio and Asda FM.
