why it's not like the bloody flu 4 Years ago
this should be self evident. Tens of thousands die every year from Influenza..as they do Cancer, dozens of other illnesses road deaths and wars..40,000 babies die every day from malnutrition..

Influenza deaths would probably be even more but there is a vaccine for it. 100,000s would probably die from Cancer but modern chemo etc means 1000s more live longer. I don;t why one illness can be compared to another.

There isn't one for coronavirus. Now it competes to kill of 1000s with Influenza. Now we have 2 deadly viruses.. Someone on here keeps comparing the two as though he thinks owns the bloody website.

‘The attack rate is relatively high as there’s no immunity to it.’ Why coronavirus was never going to be just another flu

Panicking about a global pandemic won’t help, experts say, but neither will denying the reality that novel coronavirus is a totally different disease from influenza, as could be its potential impact if the disease is allowed to spread.

Hundreds of thousands of people die from the flu every year, a fact some people have pointed out in an effort to quell anxiety about the coronavirus. So why are people social distancing for coronavirus if they don’t do it for the flu?

Hedda darling: I know you're a Nurse but you also have Common Sense; all the signs point at my suspicion that media, only influenced by "Is it a good story?" - has hugely inflated this trivial virus. Yes, hopefully there will soon be a vaccine as there is now for Flu. But for most people, especially those under 60 without other problems (I would say SMOKING is itself a major health issue as this appears to be a lung infection) this merely causes mild symptoms.

Yes keep the vulnerable protected and treated. No; do not shut down society. The repercussions will be far worse.

There simply wasn't enough of YOU in this otherwise typically modest speech. Couldn't you have shoehorned-in some or other tale about helping Binkie Beaumont out of a broom cupboard after he'd begged you to hide him from Adam Faith, who'd arrived unexpectently with the Italian sausage? You usually do.

What a joy..my old pal Louella Parsons has risen from the Grave to remind me what my real mission in life is : to permanently promote my forthcoming tome Brush With Fame : Diary of a Nobody 2 or as the publicity blurb says : The Remarkable Tale of a Complete Non Entity (who may be bloody aged but is still gorgeous) Who Met Dozens upon Dozens of Upmarket Celebs (Or Slebs in modern parlance) often for just a brief moment but lived to tell the tale. Fabulous names cross his/her lips from Michail Gorbochev- a meeting that resulted in the Famous Russian sanitizing his hands afterwards long before it was fashionable.. to (literally) a bunfight with Zsa Zsa Gabor at the famous Embassy Club, delivering Fish'n'Chips to a Hollywood Legend, sex with a famed movie star that resulted in a broken tooth, shook hands with Jimmy Savile along with a few of today's Famous / Disgraced Vile perverts ( Rolf Harris, JK?..so many to choose from( a swim in Diana Dors' pool, dancing with drag star Holly Woodlawn, sitting on a banquet at Studio 54 with Diana Ross as a girl flopped beside them and permanently expired from a drug overdose only to be featured on the front page of Women's Wear Daily as being "Out" that year and, yelled at by Sir Elton John (wasn't everyone?) chased with a walking stick by John Reid (who?) ..and so many many more but NOT- a reality "star" insight.
