SAGE say masks outdoors. 3 Years, 6 Months ago
This cant be the same SAGE who told us we were perfectly safe outdoors, surely?

Why do these people still have jobs? Their ever changing advice is crap.

Pathetic isn't it? They are pissing in the wind now.

You either look at this differently and realise we over reacted, protect the vulnerable and get on with life. Or you believe the cessation of civilised and economic life is a proportionate and necessary response.

The Gov and most people still appear to believe the latter.

So lockdown fully again until a vaccine is found. Stop delaying what we have to do.

Like the one we've never been able to find for HIV?

Exactly middlemas. Glad you agree we must grow up, face reality and stop the hysterical over reactions to just another illness humanity must accommodate as sensibly as it can.

I don't agree, as the prospect of finding a vaccine is decidedly uncertain.

Just like for:-

Dengue
Hookworm
Chagas
Malaria

With HIV, and many others, where vaccines are still being sought.

To fully lockdown, until a successful vaccine is found, would be madness.

Because that may well not ever happen. We've been looking for some, unsuccessfully, for generations.

Just take malaria as just one instance, for which no vaccine or cure has been found for hundreds of years.

Despite all the scientific and medical advances, it still kills nearly 750,000 a year, and has done for centuries. Often several millions, in a year.

About 60% of those who die are under 5, but sadly no vaccine is expected soon. Just like for Covid/coranovirus.

Much is known about malaria (mosquitoes etc.), but still no cure. Virtually nothing is known about our new highly infectious arrival, which doesn't require an insect bite.

Sadly we don't even yet understand how our new visitor spreads so quickly. To every country on earth, in only 6 months.

Yep, there are various things that can do us in....

Always have been, always will be.

Covid is one of many and less dangerous than several.

Not that you would know it at the moment.

Of course.

But no other virus has infected so fast, ever.

Mortality ratios are low - but it's a bit like a lovely couple moving in next door.

And later, you hear they're serial murderers. You just didn't bother to make checks.

Surely someone must have known.....

Not so fast, ever? How long did Flu take to kill 50 million a hundred years ago?

Dickens wrote graphically about 'the grippe' - flu.

Thankfully a vaccine was (eventually) found for that.

No solutions are imminent for the current virus, it's still a mystery.

And no other infection was as contagious, though some more lethal.

Playing poker, it's the last card that matters.

Let's see what it is, before having the solutions.

No it's not.

The analogy is silly; but let's give it a go:

It's like an aggressive looking couple moving in next door and everyone assumes they will be unstoppable and indiscriminate axe murderers.

So the whole Borough is made to stay indoors, lose their jobs, miss cancer check ups, lose lives and loved ones in an attempt to save everyone from a threat that is made real by a daily bombardment of flyers through the door alluding to criminal acts of aggression, "suspected" to have been committed by or "linked" to said family and likely to increase.

The family have committed a couple of homicides, so are undoubtedly dangerous, but always linked to underlying conditions such as drug territory or sexual jealousy.

99% of the Borough were not at serious risk from the family. But it was felt worth sacrificing the quality of 800 lives in the Borough than to have been seen to not take seriously enough the threat to a dozen.

In time it was shown that against the dozen murders commited by the family, 100 further lives were lost in the long run due to suicide , drug and alcohol abuse, untreated medical conditions, and in 3 cases spontaneous combustion due to boredom.

Going back briefly to malaria.

Like Yellow fever and Dengue, they're caused by the female mosquitoe.

Many say that Covid is also caused by another species, to humans.

And emanated from a Chinese market, where many obscure livestocks and sea creatures were sold.

In very unhygienic conditions. Thus making a vaccine more difficult to create.

MIeasles is ludicrously infectious because you only need a tiny particle to catch it.

Pre-vaccine, it was controlled by very strict quarantine of the infected child and everyone who had come into contact, and their siblings.

Perhaps following the same method might help now? It is no use making up silly rules about serving Cornish pasties until ten o clock but letting it run amok in schools.

There is I think a HUGE issue which never hits the media.
PHE published report for week 39 of 2020.
Weekly Incidence per 100000 population by ethnicity, England (I can't imagine Wales is much different).

Pakistani - 160
Other Ethnic - 80
Indian (Asian or Asian British) - 70
White - 30

So - ten times the incidences in non white (predominantly Indian/Asian) to ethnic white people.

If it were any other criteria those with the highest incidence would be targeted for further restriction and isolation, but presumably it's fear of the Race industry preventing this from happening.

I can post the link to the PHE report if requested.

I agree that racial inequality, and not caring about people who are forced to work in overcrowded sweatshops is a HUGE issue.

Do you really think that 'not caring' and some working in poor conditions could account for ten times the number of infections across the whole of England in those of this ethnic group
And even if it did shouldn't those at highest risk (by being in this group) quarantine to protect the larger population?
