majority of people in Oz wearing masks in street at present.

Mandatory in supermarkets, restaurants etc.

I've even seen people driving solo in cars wearing them which I think is quite weird.

Personally I find a mask quite suffocating and avoid going out as much as possible

They are coming I fear. The rates will continue to rise. Politicians won't question their approach since March or admit failings (what happened to the £22 billion trace and track system? Would we be in this mess if it had been effective?) so will blame us. I predict masks everywhere outdoors next week and all manner of further absurdities coming...

I notice that apart from the vague "make space" they haven't said anything about how to not catch it this time.

Really, anyone would think they actually wanted us to be infected.

The man is bully and a coward he was scared to do the election he knew he would lose. He could of arranged postal voting or would he know that would of been rigged against him ?

I wear a mask when I am in the shop but find it very tricky, wearing glasses and being short sighted don't help. I asked my local MP what the best advice is - glasses get steamed up as I enter a shop straight away, if I take them off I can't see.

I wore the mask under the nose just so I could get a few minutes of freedom so shop assistant had a go at me and I said to him 'hold my glasses and we go out outside' funny how 'Tinpot Hitlers' always backdown when challenged.

Growing up during The Troubles really does sort the men out from the boys.

Masks must now be worn at Borough Market, near London Bridge - which becomes the first UK open space to make the legal stipulation.

Vendors and customers alike must be masked in the busy market area - and it is expected that similar markets in the City of London will soon follow suit.

It seems reasonable in a crowded market. The boot sales here insist on masks too, but walking down an empty street masked is pointless.

I go for an hours walk a morning early. It is a lovely, peaceful time of day. The very few people about give one another space. Wearing a mask will not add to the experience. I won't say ruin it; but I don't wish to be reminded of the madness every time I breathe...

Made me smile today, because I pass a Ferrari/Maserati dealership on my walk and there were 4 prople on site in the office.

Essential transport business indeed

Probably looking at the new Maserati Ghibli - arguably the finest car ever made.

Enormously powerful, mouse quiet and with a sleek engine - carefully built in Turin. By Ferrari.

If they were selling hybrids or electric cars then it's essential remember the elite want us to spend money we don't have on electric cars. I looked at trading my truck for a hybrid or a new tank I still need to find the extra 33k on top. I'm not driving a fucking Nissan.

It was just the staff in there Alison no customers. The Chelsea football squad are observing the lockdown mostly; when not spit-roasting fans in hotel rooms. And the Russian mafia keep a low profile....

Most supermarkets are now making masks compulsory - as are some markets and centres. And it's beginning to look like it'll be the norm everywhere soon - except perhaps at home or in the great outdoors.

Bearing in the mind the growing infection rates, town and city dwellers should get over any reluctance to wear a mask - even on a temporarily quiet street - if the virus spread can be curtailed.

Personally I'd wear a crash helmet if told it'd stop me getting the virus - and the fact that nobody knows whether masks or helmets are effective - is a conversation for another virus-free day.

Masks and other restrictions don't seem to have done much to curtail the virus here thus far Alison. But I am touched by your faith in the orthodox mantras.

I don't know when you imagine this "virus free" day is going to arrive? Best invest in a very comfortable helmet. Or my suggestion (radical these days...) examine the available evidence for mask efficacy now and make your own mind up?

I've been hearing about this alleged New World Order for 30 years and all I can say is I don't know why anyone is concerned about them because they haven't been able to set it in place yet.

They must be utterly incompetent so why be scared of them?

Brexit, for good or bad, should amply demonstrate that any country can opt out of any arrangement and still retain it's "sovereignty" (whatever the hell that is)

One of the ills of Social Media is that any complete crackpot can become a "citizen journalist" and create an alternative reality, one that only exists in their mind..except..they do get followers who add to the mix so that you get perhaps 100,000s convinced the USA is run by a network of Satanist Pedophile Cannibals and Prince Phillip kidnapped 1000s of Canadian Indian kiddies, Hilary Clinton and The Pope (this really is believed at present on the Trump Fan websites) have been arrested and are in Gitmo and so on.

In the UK of course it peaked with the claims Jimmy Savile raped a nation and Carl Beech was a whistleblower jailed by the Baby Eaters to silence him.

The established media help as they want to get in on the action.

It cannot be ignored that the Online Loon Fruitloop Brigade heavily influenced the MSM with frauds such as the Elm Guest House fantasy and a 1000 others with even various police forces (and the BBC) taking complete nutters seriously (such as with the roller skating Cliff Richard madness)

100 years ago there was no "alternative media" and newspapers, whilst aiding the Establishment, mainly reported the real news in straight forward fashion.

So when there was a pandemic and people were told to wear masks they did, and have several times such as in the Spanish Flu crisis that killed multi-millions and yet...after each crisis was over, society went back to normal, for a time.

Now everything is a drama. We've all become Drama Queens.

# this doesn't apply to us on here where sanity rules. Mostly

There is no unanimity among experts though Alison. You can pick your experts (yes of course as can I) as the Gov does to suit its political strategy.

This study I believe is the biggest yet conducted re masks with over 6000 participants:

www.rigshospitalet.dk/presse-og-nyt/nyhe...-offentliggjort.aspx

1.8% of those who wore masks and 2.1% of those who didn't caught C19. The authors said there could be "marginal" benefits but "could not rule out that the mask does not protect the wearer."

So yes masks could protect the wearer marginally (your reference actually doesn't say a lot more than this just with a positive spin) or they may be doing nothing.

I suspect to achieve anything even marginal you need a JK astronaut style contraption (when do you see on TV scientists entering a chemical leak site wearing civilian clothes and a flappy hankie resting over their mouths? No they all look like JK in a mask...)

But flappy hankies can make people feel better, and many have been deliberately psychologically damaged by their own Government; so to this extent they have an application.

Hardly by being asked to wear masks - in an effort to reduce virus infections?

Oh come on stupid Barney; the same stupid Government who told us masks were "worse than useless" (I'd have cancelled my order if I'd paid any attention); then changed it to "don't buy masks; PPE is urgently needed in hospitals" and now are telling us they are essential. DOH!

You have been debunked time and time again - remember when WHO said C19 was not transferable to people to people.
