There was another way... 3 Years, 3 Months ago
Hesitated to post this as yes it is bloody C19 again.

But whatever your stance this is fascinating, I think:

www.aier.org/article/in-the-asian-flu-of...tter_impression=true

Lockdown was considered and rejected for the Asian flu of 1957-58.

They looked at the harms caused and decided it was worse than the virus, and would achieve nothing because the disease was already in communities and spreading. Their approach was - yes you've guessed it -just protect the vulnerable and get on with life!

We had the wisdom in 1957 and have lost it since in our shallow, media driven world.

Warning: if you think like me then this article may make you weep tears of frustration!

Comparing different viruses to each other - in two eras, over 60 years apart - is problematical for numerous and obvious reasons.

Here's another take on lockdowns for the current coranovirus. Put simply - like masks - they can work, and it'd be foolhardy to discount them.

I am not comparing viruses. I am comparing responses to viruses.

But leaving this aside - the reasons are not obvious to me Alison?

The world has had many new infectious diseases since the mid-50s - during which medical science has never advanced as fast.

Sars, Zika, HIV/AIDS and Ebola, for instance, have all had our laboratories busy - hence we quickly produced a covid vaccine.

Well ok I am sure we have advanced in developing vaccines.

But my post isn't about this at all; so let's draw a line here.

slightly different times..the world population has exploded and any pandemic can be far more devastating than previous ones and wipe out 100s of millions of people.

I simply sit and await to be turned into Soylent Green.

That's the plan Hedda. WEF, NWO, Democrats, China, Tories, Labour are all in it together to reduce the population.

Why settle for Soylent Green when there is the Omega Man.

Maybe.

But any such pandemic would have to be far more deadly than this one to get anywhere near 100s of millions; so this isn't relevant to my post either.

My post is about how we have reacted to C19 - not to a virus with a significant lethality.

Well bloody hell can't they come up with something more effective than C19!! 100s of millions...

On current rates this will take about 100 years and I for one don't want to be in lockdown that long...

But if your theory is correct GM how do all the lockdowns fit in? Surely we would be encouraged to mix and schools would be open...

Yes, and two posters suggested the two eras mentioned were very different - making your argument invalid.

Yes Barney you really add nothing to this forum. Not for the first time I suggest you post somewhere else, where you may be appreciated.

New World Order are behind the lockdowns and probably Covid. WHO are going to Wuhan to suss out the meat markets but not the lab.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9146089...e-origins-Covid.html

Now they could be investigating the lab after U turn after. Democrats and the elite rigged the election. Trump knows too know much and he don't fit their agenda.

Wow...I struggle with this stuff. I just need to be left alone with my image of a man licking a dead bat in a Chinese market and causing the world to go mad. It has a pleasing narrative simplicity.

Clyde it is bad form to "quote" someone when you have edited their sentence without even the acknowledgment of elipsis.

The "my image of" (...a man licking a dead bat - the dots are elipsis btw) was central to the deeply important point I was making...
