TOPIC: Global Lockdown
#215377
Global Lockdown 2 Years, 5 Months ago
I'm totally in favour of global lockdowns if a virus is as deadly as Ebola and as infectious as Flu. I'm even in favour after vaccines if the amount of deaths or serious illnesses remain high. But to do it anywhere for stupid Covid, a trivial virus except for the very old or vulnerable, is overkill.

Looks like we are in for this every year then.

We have been vaccinated.

There is nothing else that is going to change now.

2020-2021 was the year the world powers, swept on media hype, promised they could save us all from any new illnesses - even ones as largely harmless as Covid 19; billions believed it, and are holding them to it.

I really thought post vaccination this would not be happening; what a fool I am.

There literally is no hope now. Reason has fled the planet.

I'm pissed off the lock down is over as the traffic is heavy again.

And even worse ..I keep forgetting that frigging 3.30pm school run when 1000s of shockingly bad driving mothers are out on the streets driving ridiculous trucks ( 4 wheel drives ) to pick up their brats.

About 60% of us have been double jabbed. But the jabs have uncertain potency cycles.

Not a time for complacency, bearing in mind the new and rising infection figures here and elsewhere.

Literally no hope - yes, there is! Please try to keep your spirits up and don't be defeatist.

Don't worry Hedda you are in the right country to have your freedoms removed arbitrarily by a despotic click of the finger! Won't be long before your sensibilities remain untroubled by the brats; following an outbreak of sneezing on the beach!

Yes rising infections is terrifying isn't it? Particularly the asymptomatic kind: it could literally be anyone who is fine but doesn't know that they shouldn't be fine.

The only one being complacent is you. I suspect psychologically you welcome freedoms being removed.

I'm sure Gates, Fauchi, WEF have that in another lab now. Give it another 10 to 20 years, it will somehow 'leak' like Covid did.

Barney, If you had the ability to alter the current vaccine so it is effective against the current dominant strain, and it would only take three weeks, what would you do?

Nothing?

And if the vaccines were so crap that children had disrupted education, businesses were struggling, quite a lot of people dying, and the whole nation well and truly cheesed off, what would you do?

Still nothing?

Looks like there may be hope as people clearly aren't prepared to be confined to their homes again for this mild virus:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-59363256

I predict riots here too in the major cities if they attempt another lockdown. They gave gone too far post vaccine.

I assume a reference to the ludicrous demonstrations in Melbourne about a proposed law that..would merely bring that state into line with the rest of the Australian states.

Demonstrations with perhaps up to 5-10,000 vocal people at a time..except out of an estimated 6 million Melbourne residents with a 90% vaccination rate, it's chicken feed.

Demonstrations whipped up by Rupert Murdoch (yes I'm obsessed ) dominant daily tabloid aided by a TV network which feature 1000s of total morons all claiming to be "alternatives" but in fact QAnon believers and crypto-Fascists. (they carry banners about the "pedo Satanist child eating shape-shifting reptiles" etc)

And the law that is "going to take away our freedoms" is actually partly on the Victorian books already in that it gives the government..similar to the USA & UK and obviously Austria the power to force lock downs and do whatever necessary to control a pandemic.

The only difference in Victoria to the other States (where the populace & Murdoch media couldn't give a stuff about this law)..is the Victorian government must go to Parliament and re-affirm it's powers every time there is a "pandemic" which it's had to do twice in 50 years with a nearly 100% combined 'yes' vote with Opposition co-operation.

But Rupert's dominant media..now with heir Lachlan Murdoch back in town (unlike Dad who is just about the money..the son is an extremist..but he's also very nice and I still have the memo he sent around years ago to all staff to "not use the internet for research (to save money) as it was a "passing fad" )...is desperate for financial reasons too complicated to expand on..to rid Victoria of it's very left wing Premier and government.

Fortunately for his efforts..the Premier's poll ratings have rocketed to an all time high due to his handling of the pandemic.

Rupert is losing his touch.

# There is a real problem with his world-wide print media which is bleeding money badly & losing influence and his investors in Fox News ( I think Rupert owns about 20%) & Fox studios are applying pressure.

It can’t be too coincidental that the lockdown capital of the world happens to be his home capital.

Oh no not a reference to any demonstrations or demonstrators; a reference to the leaders of Australia Hedda.

Whether a law is in line with anything or anywhere else isn't of interest in itself.

That lots of people do or believe something shouldn't be treated as a conclusion. It should, firstly, be treated as a question.

The whole response to Covid has by-passed this essential stage.

Re:Global Lockdown 2 Years, 5 Months ago
However there are vast differences though in Covid deaths.

Argentina 116,000 compared to Victoria's 1944

Yet Victoria with it's longer lock downs but pretty much similar to all the Oz states has the largest amount of Covid deaths.

Melbourne & Sydney have approx 6 million residents each..Buenos Aires at 15 million but all 3 cities are spacious and possible similar in density. Why do some have higher death rates?

# I have been lucky with a legal reason to move about each day. I think lock down for many people must be very difficult and I can understand it would impact badly on the mental health of many.

It's one thing staying home all the time but another being made to stay home.

The Honorable Jackie Lambie in the Australian Senate rips into a nutter right wing loon over their ani-lockdown bill (failed miserably)

Cliams she was in the Parliament bar beforehand are mere rumours..this is passion speaking..

Extraordinary moment Jacqui Lambie SCREAMS at Pauline Hanson about vaccine mandates in epic smackdown - and even the One Nation leader is impressed

Sounds like Vince McMahon. You couldn't get away from pro wrestling in the 80's and 90's in the bars and clubs across USA.
