Bob Woffinden's fascinating books published this year. 9 Years, 3 Months ago
He has two - The Nicholas Cases, about ten of the worst miscarriages of justice over the past thirty years (including mine) comes out in a few months. The first, BAD SHOW, is about the "coughing Major" incident in the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire TV series and is equally fascinating. So much so that the MAIL has bought the serialisation rights and is publishing two huge excerpts next Saturday (the 17th) and Monday (the 19th). Do read them. Your jaw will drop (as it will when you read his forensic and detailed examination about the miscarriage of justice in MY case).

What it makes you wonder is - since the deaths of LUDOVIC KENNEDY and RICHARD WEBSTER (the two great investigative journalists of past years - everyone should read The Secret of Bryn Estyn if they want to see the truth behind the false allegations industry; I gave a copy to one of my probation officers and she said it was the most informative and interesting book she had ever read) - why is Bob one of the very few people who devote months of deep and total research into cases? Something the police really should do (poor things - they have neither the time, budget nor inclination).

Anyway, try the MAIL coverage and if you're intrigued, buy the book (out on the 29th January). And please be certain to buy The Nicholas Cases when it is published in a few months.

The bit on his Wiki page that says the Spanish 'cooking oil' disaster claimed 20,000 lives!

I see in Bob's Wikipedia entry it says he's known me since the NME days. Yet another example of how WikiPedia gets it wrong. I met Bob for the first time when he visited me in HMP Maidstone because he felt my conviction was a miscarriage of justice. A dozen years later my case becomes an entire long and detailed chapter in his The Nicholas Cases book. Do read the serialisation of his BAD SHOW book in the Mail tomorrow and next week.

Excellent spread in the Mail - three pages plus the front page!
And it's a thoroughly researched, well thought out piece.
