Dear Charles Clarke,
BAD LAWS MADE IN HASTE As you consider the new laws to arrest and detain terror suspects, may I reminc you of the laws Michael Howard pushed through when he was Home Secretary in the 1990's? With the best intentions, to punish those who abused vulnerable children decades earlier with no witnesses or evidence and only the word of the victims to be taken as proof, Howard brought in laws abolishing the need for corroboration I know you cannot comment on specific cases but I am just one of the thousands Of victims of false allegations. Whether it be greedy adults keen for compensation Cash or media fees or corrupt or lazy police eager for convictions to improve their figures, this has encouraged invention, exaggeration and police |
