Tunisia in November

An excellent winter break in sunny, if chilly, Tunisia. Luckily the pools at the wonderful hotel Moevenpick in Sousse are heated so swimming (5 hours a day) was fine.

I really recommend Tunisia for very cheap but high quality holidays at the moment. I've been going there since Bourguiba (before Ben Ali) and many Tunisians wish he was still there... or even Ben Ali, since the current government simply haven't got the economy together.

But although the possibility of a further revolution still remains, the climate, people and place are still gems of a destination; fabulous beaches and five star hotels and food at two star prices.

It's very quiet in November and December and not as attractive a country as in the summer but with air fares, car hire and luxury hotel rooms on special promotions, it's the perfect destination for families, couples or individuals in need of a couple of weeks of sunshine with very little available cash. Only just over two hours flight away; a wonderful new Museum in Sousse looking at the people living there before the Roman Empire - for culture vultures it's ideal; Carthage (a huge capital in Roman days); El Djem (the most complete colosseum in the world); Djerba (better weather there in winter); and I really feel it's essential to spread the word at this tricky economic time.
