But I cannot concern myself with the UK no more- I have a London born (Marble Arch- nowhere down market) Brain Battered ( Blue at Oxford) Mad Monk Tony Abbott (who I do believe is as nutty as a fruitcake and I'm sure Rupert Murdoch agrees) to unseat.
YOU said he would never get elected in the first place - remember ?
indeed and I was correct - if he was to be elected on merit...as he is the most unpopular PM the country has ever had and his approval rating plummeted from day 1...now at 20%.
But even I cannot always forsee how the corrupting influence of media power will be used
Repeat : with 13 million voters it would take 30,000 in key seats to sweep him out which is why Rupert Murdoch used his 70% of media to lambast the then Labor government with a 5 week front page campaign of vilification never witnessed in Oz before, accompanied by huge bus-stop posters that changed every day...a campaign that cost Murdoch $$millions with a newspaper business that is losing money hand over first.
And even the the Labor Party still, as it always has, garnered the highest vote.
Just this week papers released in the USA prove what was basically always known, that Murdoch decided to revengefully remove a popular government in 1975 and succeeded.
Even so, the conservative government in Oz is still to the left of UK Labour but it helps every now & then to have a change so people realise what they are missing...and with every election promise broken Abbott will take his party to complete destruction in 18 months......except he will be replaced by then by his own party.
## I only move in Tory circles...I've never heard such hatred expressed for a Tory PM..they saw him as a fool who could be manipulated..now they see him as an embarrassing incompetent and a one term disaster ( 3 years in Oz..so much better than 5 in UK) who risks decimating the Tory base..the so-called "doctor's wives"..
## even ITK should know the "popular" Margaret Thatcher never had the popular vote.
### ITK should worry that Rupert now intends to destroy the Tories as payback for the Leveson Inquiry by boosting UKIP and is succeeding
