We don't know that it is human trafficking and not just someone taking in unwanted children do we?
It used to be common here. My family have quite a few "extras" who were unofficially adopted to save them from horrors at home. I sometimes wonder if it would be better if it was still allowed?
Sort of like an unofficial foster carer. I do think if this couple had been left holding the baby and wanted to keep her they may well have been reluctant to contact the authorities to try and adopt her officially because of all the checks that would probably entail, a) she'd probably have been taken from them anyway and b) they could have been caught out on a lot of their other dodgy dealings, benefit scams etc...
The most obvious explanation to me if someone has registered children that they don't appear to have is it's a benefit scam - if they were claiming benefits for them that is - which would come as no surprise if they were.
They appear to be dodgy character's, but I don't think any of that actually means 'abduction' of this girl is the only plausible explanation for all this - even the most plausible, it seems there's still hell of a lot they don't know yet...

I think there is a lot of sensationalism going on with this story and too much speculation without facts, but that said I have had a woman begging for money approach me in London with a baby that looked so still (she told me the baby was sleeping) that I thought the baby must either be dead (though I ruled that out as I think their would have been more sign's if the baby was dead) or one of these really, really convincing life like dolls, I wouldn't think so much of it, but i've heard other people have had the exact same thing happen and again one of the most noticible things was that the baby was so still and didn't make any sound, i'd dismissed them as dolls until yesterday when I was reading about this story on the net and someone else brought up the babies that never cry or make any sound and suggested that they think they are real babies that have been drugged to make them sleep all day, it sounds like this is happening a lot and all over the world...
Though you'd have thought carrying a baby around all day while begging would be illegal in this country, wouldn't you? It seems very strange that they think they'll get away with it?
Though i'm not sure what is going on with this case here,to me, an equally plausible explanation might be that the girl was being watched by this couple and her mother never came back for her (deserted her) and so they just decided to keep her with them and didn't report it to the authorities because of the way they lived. You hear of mother's deserting their children all the time don't you? And worse...
