I don't think I've ever been to Verona; may correct that next summer.
I'm enjoying this new series - burried away on Sunday nights - very much myself. It's amazing that Europe relied on British technology to build their railways. And how interesting Europe was pre-World War I.
Verona is lovely, and the Coliseum is much more beautiful than the one in Rome. We saw Aida there. (I'm actually very surprised that you've never been there on one of your Grand Tours!).
Mr Reason
....can I just also remind you of ther most classic of classic railway journeys?
Euston - Kyle Of Lochalsh in about 1980 by Michael Palin.....think its on DVD........
I like it anyway, its early travelogue Palin before he became known for it
