Yes of course there are more people in work, this is because there are MORE people. 66 million and counting. The population grew by 4 million between 1997 and 2010. And yes you can control the numbers of people. Firstly cut down on immigration from non-eu countries, stop child benefit for all but the first two children. Personally I would bring in a one child per family rule. One generation would struggle but future generations would find it easier. If the population grows that is exasperating it for future generations.

How many of these people in work are in part-time work when they are looking for full-time. How many are on zero hour contracts or back to work (fiddling the figures) schemes.[/quote]

andrew	Mine didn't ITK, I had to work for my driving lessons etc, then work dried up couldn't afford any more lessons. So when you paid for their lessons etc you helped them get jobs, as it's easier to get a job when you got your own transport. I made sure my children worked hard and benefitted from their opportunities. If other people don't care what happens to their kids - that's their problem (and I'm not paying for their failings !) Most looking for work care, zero hour contracts pointless and getting part time work when people need full time is making them poorer.
