We've seen this many times ... Hong Kong / Japan / Korea ... now even China has "boomed" and is not the cheap place for manufacture that it was.
Great empires rise, then fall...I wouldn't have wanted to be the one praising Pax Romana in 410AD Britain ITK.
30 years ago China started from a low base,it has just announced it has overtaken the USA as the number one trading nation.
India has almost caught up with Russia,The UK is within sight, but perhaps you would prefer to join the Euro, roll back the recovery, and pay off Greek debts for the next ....? years?

Makes one wonder why they join the club if they don't like its rules !
good grief, ITK once again makes sense. Wake me up before you go go !
the UK will not leave the EU and if it did, tell the last person to turn out the lights when they leave.
JK is correct...much to learn from Europe and no doubt the rest of Europe has much to learn from the UK ( but they shouldn't listen to ITK's ramblings- only darkness lies that way )

You mean those awfully clever peeps who decided the Euro would be the perfect monetary unit for such diverse economies as Germany and Greece?
The same clever peeps who have delivered un-auditable accounts of how they use our money for the last how many years?
Fact is JK the EU is going downhill, while the rest of the world is going up.
If we are genuinely so unimportant that we cannot survive on our own then what's wrong with stronger alliances with our natural historical allies like America and the Commonwealth? Fact is while Europe has messed itself up from a great height countries like India are booming...and we have much closer ties there than we ever had in europe.
