Its predecessor (ish), Manhunter, is well worth watching again. A better movie in some ways.
Oh Pru, I love you - Manhunter (1986) is a FAR SUPERIOR film to Silence of the Lambs.
Always felt that Anthony Hopkins was "taking the piss" out of Lecter. Brian Cox's Lecter is sublime, focused and brilliant and not the panto villain that Hopkins turned him into. |
honey!oh sugar sugar. |

Silence of the Lambs is the only film that truly 'frightened' me. I watched it on the big screen when it first came out, and walked home from the Cinema along a poorly lit pathway by the river in Bedford - I admit I was so spooked, I ran until I came to a well-lit public area. Never happened with any other film, no matter how frightening they were.
Anthony Hopkin's portrayal was one of 'Hollywood's' iconic performances
it scared me too, and I am still frightened of anthony hopkins even when he is being himself. |

Always preferred Manhunter, Silence of the Lambs was over-hyped in my opinion. |

Brian Cox played the role in Manhunter. Less of a Larry Olivier 'turn' than Hopkins', and all the more chilling for it. There's a real sense of tension that builds up in that movie that is more authentic than in 'Lambs'. |
