The Church of England and Church of Wales are actually BANNED from performing the ceremony.
The Catholic Church will of course have nothing to do with anything so silly - they never bow to public fads or pressure.
Are civil partnerships scrapped now then?
No - you can choose (but the gays, of course want both !!!!)
Anyone currently in a civil partnership can "change" that and get married (but not until later, as the law has enacted yet).
