zooloo Thanks for the replies.

I am painfully aware that just putting a song on the web doesn't sell a thing. It's all promo-promo-promo.

Looking around for somewhere to host/sell I found quite a few but have no perspective on their merits. If I never have to read any website legalese bumf again I'll not be saddened

Looks like the best option is sell them off the website, webbyman says can do and I have the PayPal.

Then all I have to do it promote... promote... promo...
Michael As Manager Man says, it comes down to the promo. I have also put stuff on the main sites. But I am currently trying to bend the arms of niche sites where I know there is a more motivated audience. The difficulty is trying to make it worthwhile for them. Ideally, I'd like to send them little files that they could embed and then earn some dosh off without the hassle of hosting and secure servers. It's actually a bit of a tall order.

When I work it out, I'll put it in a box and sell it to you, alright?
Martin My distro has sold less copies on I-tunes than I have sold from my own site, I could of course divert the sales from the site to I-tunes, but I don`t really feel the need. It cost $16 to upload to the distro. One pain in the proverbial which I hadnt taken into account, was that I had to upgrade to a Paypal business account, which whacks 26p of off every 79p download.
Manager Man There are 1000's of download sites out there now - like TuneTribe. Some - like KarmaDownload - have already gone out of business, and others will follow.

It's STILL all about promotion. Just because your track is "available" does not mean that anyone will actually "find it" (and want to buy it) amongst the 10's of 1000's already there !
zooloo Websites to sell MP3s from.

Any recommendations for and/or opinions on actual sites or a site that has a sensible and informative list of such places?
(Like a clear comparison of the bizarre contracts that seem to dwell out there)

Also, some places say they'll get the songs listed on iTunes - can I do this directly or what is the best way? (Probably ties in with the above)

Thanks in advance. Any suggestions or pointers will be greatly appreciated.
