Al And don't forget York City beating them 3-0 at Old Trafford mid 1990s.
Martin I get the feeling there was a race to put that post up!
The Southend goalie was absolutely superb, and for anybody that did not see the match, Man Utd did not on this occasion field there second eleven, Rinaldo, Rooney the lot were outplayed, and it was a great game.
Sometimes I think teams lose out by being seen too much by the opposition on television and vice versa.
I have never seen Southend play before, and they looked like a top flight team to me, despite what their league position displays.
Far be it for me to crow about the night in which Bournemouth knocked Man U out of the cup as well, ok I will:woohoo:
In The Know Southend have just dumped Man Utd out of the cup !!!!!
Martin Bit of a shame Southend just ruined the party!
Al In 1966 it was England - the Team who won the World Cup. That is the difference between then and now. In recent years the focus has been on the one "superstar" backed by the "other players", whether it was Gazza, Shearer, Beckham or Rooney.

I'm no fan of Alex Ferguson, but he knows that no player is bigger than the team. Man Utd play as a collective, and if one of them gets too uppity, (e.g. Beckham, Van Nistelroy) he rightly unloads them.

A superstar does not guarantee success, but having a good team often does. Ferguson understands this, and so did Ramsey.

As for the World Cup being a fluke. You could say that about any game. The main thing is that England did win by two goals, and no amount of moaning or whining can change that.
