I tend to buy artists that I "think" I might like - but would never buy at full-price ! - and if I don;t like it, well, it was only a couple of quid.
Bought The Watersons the other day - mightily impressed ... folky, with an edge.

Same with Clifford T Ward, Lou Reed, Nick Drake, Anthrax, Arlo Guthrie, Bruce Springsteen, Beatles. The list is endless ITK, many people use Music Magpie and ebay these days.
