The first things any totalitarian regime do is to outlaw the memory and the imagination by editing history and censoring art. Remembrance is important, and if remembering the dead makes young people today reflect on the reality of war rather than the romantic myth, then that's a good thing. (It would also help if our young, under-educated royals actually went into useful civilian professions instead of racing to get the medals on and joining the macho lads playing soldiers.)

We do not celebrate,we commemorate the sacrifices the poor unfortunates made at the behest of upper class idiots who went to public school...and had no idea what suffering they would cause.
