One of the comments from underneath the article (originally written in block capitals): The allegation(s) of rape surrounding Bill Cosby is missing a significant ingredient, the filing of criminal complaints. I am a 64 year old black man. I grew up in an era where a black man didn't necessarily have to commit a crime of rape. If it was suggested by a white woman a black man looked like a rapist, he was hauled off to jail and within a couple months he would be in the comfort of a state prison serving a life sentence, if he was lucky.
In 1969 and prior, it wouldn't have mattered how much stardom was being enjoyed by a black man, if he was accused of or even hinted he was a serial rapist by drug inducement, the "boy" would have been given a public execution, literally!!
It wouldn't have mattered about his financial worth because by the time jury deliberations would have begun, legal fees would have drained all bank accounts to the penny.
The mere preponderance of evidence or lack thereof is amazing this crap is news worthy.
This accusation definitely sounds like a racist cliche: He went after me in that hotel room like an animal with such sexual prowess and force that he couldn't control himself.
I know one agent in New York (now deceased) whose apartment was amazing to visit. On his living room wall was a collection of photos of hugely successful male stars in their teens looking relaxed in his apartment.
The word was that if these young men wanted to make it they slept with him and about 3 other powerful moguls.
They are now incredibly famous. perhaps the ones that didn't make it now claim rape.
One of the world's top record company bosses offered me a $50K contract for an artist I managed. The deal was he had have dinner with this mogul and spend the night with him
They guy was straight and chose not to. He has a reasonably good career but I know 2 of the world's biggest singing stars accepted the deal..one so hideously ugly you had to wonder on the man's artists- but that was it- man or woman no matter how they look his bag I guess was to be ab;e to say he had slept with them before they were stars.
history is being re-written but much of it is based on lies- there will be tears before bedtime

Yes - one - he's American. Two - he's alive. Three - he'll find it impossible to prove his innocence (which - under US law, as in the UK, is not meant to be necessary).
any person who uses their sexuality to 'get on' and manipulate possibly older or more powerful men can no re-write that history as rape and abuse if their dreams did not come true.
but I know nothing about this particular case however, the old casting couch has been used since time immemorial in Hollywood.
I recall lunch in the late 70s with the son of one of Hollywood's legendary movie star husband and wife teams telling me it was accepted practice and the one reason for having a superb agent is that he/she would ensure you got the contract signed before sex.
