If anyone or anything gets too successful it seems that is a reason to knock it down. Geldof is not perfect but he is well meaning and I believe he and the Band Aid team are managing the charity aspects of what they are doing as well as anybody could. It would be great if millions of pounds could be donated without any celebrities being involved or any media exposure but that isn't going to happen so I think Band Aid has represented the music industry very well over the last 30 years and have produced a model which others have followed. Regardless of the money they have raised the amount of awareness of the problems as a result of their efforts has been immense. I can't understand why anyone criticises Bob Geldof for having an ego. He is the spokesperson and as such needs to have confidence and swagger to do that job. This morning on the BBC his performance was faultless and I think he could have answered any question put to him and won any debate any detractor wanted too have with him. It was a performance but anyone who appears on the media knows every word will be scrutinised so the pressure must be enormous and its why so many politician's come across as plastic. Bob Geldof can never be considered plastic. There is a lot of talk these days about role models and IMHO Bob Geldof is a great role model for any aspiring rock star. Yes he has faults but he also has many virtues. God Bless Bob Geldof[/quote]
