SP17 In most businesses, I would agree - but in the world's biggest sport - it would be virtually impossible to allow a convicted rapist to participate.

Just one reason. Opposition supporters would use the conviction as a battering ram - using it, in chanting and abuse - to unnerve Evans' team.

Thus ruining the game as a spectical and/or entertainment. Sponsors wouldn't like it either - they prefer to be associated with the Gary Lineker type 'role model'.


JK2006 My take - whether or not he's eventually considered guilty (I have no faith at all in the broken British judicial system) - it is terribly unfair to remove a man's chances of a career simply because of the green ink brigade. Let him play, for God's sake.
