I think perhaps the doctor thinks that when patients thank him politely and seem to be coping well that it is real, and the sufferer and their families are not going through a living hell that is bleak, frightening and very painful.
We "appear" to accept it because there is nothing else you can bloody do! It doesn't mean it is easy.
I think what the Doctor meant was, that with cancer there is a prolonged period when someone (and their family) knows that they will die ... and has some time to prepare for it
An acquaintance of mine here in Margate just passed from Cancer. His Doctor gave him a month, pumped him with steroids...after which he had 10 days in Benidorm with his good lady wife..was down the strip every night, survived 'Sticky Vicky' and Daughters a few times!...Came home, winded down, passed peacefully, wife and family at his side....
...yes a perfect way to pass...and all planned out.
RIP Alex.
How did your acquaintance get travel insurance? I'm genuinely interested as my father has cancer and time is ticking away. |
