... with the scrounging Labour lot, I suppose ?

The UN will be sending in aid parcels within months !

Some people never learn, do they?

Its not about that - its standards of decency.

A teacher who raped a pupil would never be allowed in a school ever again.

Throughout ALL the threads on Ched Evans (who I had previously never heard of) NOT ONE person has shown any sympathy or empathy with the victim.

What does that tell us ?

Oldham are in a desperate situation - and are only signing this player because he is "free" (his father in law will pay his wages and compensate the club for any losses).

Let's not pretend there is any morality here !

I suspect that Mike Ashley will be able to buy Oldham very very cheaply - in the not too distant future.

where is this Book Of Decency Rules so we can decide if Evans' is breaching them?

Far better to have him doing what he does best rather than sitting at home festering.

As for showing 'empathy/sympathy' for the victim- How can we? We don't know her, she is a compete stranger. Pretending you have sympathy for a stranger is lunacy and a lie. Next week you won't give a damn about her & you know it.

Where is your sympathy for all the other victims in this world ?
You make sweeping statements about the unemployed and recipients of social security without a scintilla of knowledge of their situations...many could be victims of terrible events.

so with all due respect (?)your 'sympathy claim is just bullshit (oh God that felt good ).

There is no law that says an ex-con must show remorse. No law at all.
Anything else is just nasty bullying claptrap by people with no power except to try and derail someone else's life.

## the reality here is that Evans will play football. the majority of fans won't give a stuff, the media will forget, the opponents at the game will yell insults like they always do etc etc etc.

### I really admire his father-in-law for supporting him.

JK2006 Standards of decency. Totally agree. There SHOULD be sympathy for the victim and I'm not surprised that nobody, on either side, shows any. Likewise there needs to be sympathy for a victim of either false allegations and miscarriage of justice (we'll have to wait and see how the appeal pans out, if it happens). And sympathy for the victim of blinkered, narrow minded bigotry which comes from people who take in very few facts before deciding how and where to express their opinion. Should a teacher who abuses their position be allowed to teach? No. Does a footballer who abused his position be allowed to play? Depending on the abuse, no. How many times can he bite an opponent? But a teacher jailed for fraud should be allowed to teach (perhaps not economics). And a footballer who served time for a crime that had nothing to do with football should be allowed to play again (whilst probably being asked nicely NOT to become a marriage counsellor).

JK2006 Yes, as previously mentioned, football fans come in all shapes and sizes and some need the smallest of reasons to shout insults at the opposing team. I'm sure you're right, ITK, and there will be more trouble and unpleasantness. "Don't give in to terrorists" is the other attitude. "Never pay ransoms", likewise. "Don't give in to blackmailers". You pick your morality, after, hopefully, deep thought and analysis, and support the side you decide you're on.

First you decide "is it fair to punish someone further than the law decrees?" - then, if you decide, "yes it is", you decide whether to join in and sign petitions, attend matches and shout insults. Each of us must make up our own minds to our own moralities and behave accordingly.
