In The Know (as always)

Yes, Anne's second marriage was to George West (whose mother, was Jane, daughter of Ralph Eyre of Offerton in the Peak - one of my ancestors).

(George's nephew William married Winifred Eyre, daughter of Adam Eyre from Offerton).

Saw the Holbien portrait when it was displayed at Buckingham Palace - not due for display again for several years

In The Know Been to South Yorks today to see graves of Anne Cressacre (she married Sir Thomam More's only son) and members of the West family (that Anne later married into). The Wests were particular favourites of Henry VIII and were granted lots of land after the dissolution of the monasteries.

Been "on the list" for ages but only just got round to doing it (prompted by last night's show.
JK2006 Glad you spotted that ITK: Ryland's interpretation is magnificent. Indeed, Mantel's depiction in the books, at far greater length, is superb and the best thing in the stunning novels. The turmoil inside Cromwell is huge. A truly wonderful character portrait. Whether true or not, who knows? It doesn't claim or pretend to be. But it gives one a superb protagonist (with whom the reader falls deeply in love). I thought the actor playing More was excellent too; a very hard part, the way Hilary has written him. In the books he's nastier.
In The Know (as always) I am loving the way Cromwell is depicted ... even when he "wins" something internally he knows he is the loser.
