corevalue The most egregious case of this that comes to mind is the notorious Australian Katherine Knight.

Several months later, he returned to see his daughter and found that Knight had gone to the police and told them she was afraid of him. They issued her an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) against him

What on earth were they thinking! It was mostly kept out of the news at the times, as the story was considered too upsetting. Several policemen had to have PTSD counselling.
