Topic History of: Texas: Four-Year-Old (!) Suspended For Sexual Contact

Anthony The issue here is more about the teacher's aide than the boy.

There must be some disturbance in the mind of someone who would interpret a hug from a four year old as inappropriate sexual behaviour. The administrators should be concentrating on how appropriate it is for such a person to work with small children. Quite sinister.
zooloo This is bizarre.

They say his record ...will now refer to the alleged incident as "inappropriate physical contact"

That doesn't seem fair.
JK2006 Inappropriate barking mad loonies, more like!
DJones BELLMEAD, TX---A four-year-old pre-kindergarten student is in in-school suspension for demonstrating what the school administration says was "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment".

Damarcus Blackwell, the child's father, says the boy was hugging his teacher's aide but the school principal says that the while lining up to get on the school bus last month, the boy rubbed his face in the chest of a female employee.

His father says the accusation is ridiculous because his son is too young to know what constitutes sexual contact or sexual harassment. Blackwell asked that the incident be expunged from his son's permanent record.

Officials at the La Vega Primary School told Blackwell they would remove the sexual references on the disciplinary referral but denied his request for an apology from the aide and cleansing the boy's record. Administration said the boy's record will now refer to the alleged incident as "inappropriate physical contact". 12-08-06
