Peter “This whole sordid affair has demonstrated the true consequences of what happens when vulnerability collides with power. He groomed a nation.”

Ironically, Spindler's quote appears to be an accurate assessment of what these corrupt, self-serving and malevolent police chiefs do when they lie to the general public via the stinking pestilential swamp that is UK media. Just replace the word “He” with the word “We” in the quote above to turn it from a sordid lie into a truthful statement.
JK2006 I think the Bogeyman Savile was long ago replaced by others (some living like Rolf) and now by former Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath but I also suspect the "great story" has started to run out of diesel and is being overtaken by the electric car of "could they have been making it up?" thanks to phone hacking having turned the media against the police. Just sad that every move was for the wrong reasons. But comforting that the occupants of all the vehicles are lemmings.
Jo I was under the impression that only one person had ever reported Jimmy Savile to the police before he died, and had withdrawn their complaint.

Sussex police confirm 2008 assault claim

It seems unlikely that false allegations will be seen to be a problem until the Savile allegations stop being held aloft like some kind of Holy Grail.
JK2006 In case ordinary or new readers cannot believe it -

Jimmy Savile was “a prolific, predatory sex offender” who “spent every minute of every waking day” thinking about abuse, it was revealed yesterday.
The disgraced TV presenter could have been prosecuted for offences against at least three victims while he was alive, had victims been taken more seriously.
“This whole sordid affair has demonstrated the true consequences of what happens when vulnerability collides with power. He groomed a nation,” said Commander Peter Spindler.
JK2006 Absolutely; the catalogue of incredibly stupid police comments grows hourly. And there are even more serious breaches of discipline, let alone law. From the Telegraph last year - after the Sir Richard Henriques report.

He said the district judge who issued the search warrants had been misled by detectives over the credibility of Nick's allegations.
Sir Richard said: "The gravity of a judge being misled in such circumstances cannot be overstated."
