tdf IIRC, Savile offered himself as a negotiator at some point during the Troubles.

Jo Their trajectories seem to have gone in opposite directions. From terrorist to peacemaker and from national treasure to monster.

You should make your views known to relevant people at the BBC. Perhaps some of these, or others:

Jeremy Vine: vine@bbc.co.uk (source)
Lewis Carnie, (Head of Radio 2) Head of Programmes: dllewcarass01@bbc.co.uk (source)
BBC1 points of view: pov@bbc.co.uk (source)

Dan McGolpin, controller BBC daytime: Dan.McGolpin@bbc.co.uk (guessed e-mail) (named here)

Oh no you can kill maim murder but you will not be put on a register for life.
My two thoughts.
Yes he was a piece of scum for what he did but hopefully this shows people can change.
Excuse Me! I make no apologies.......furious!

So, PROVEN murderer gets "but he fought for peace"........ Now I'm no politician and I don't mind a level playing field but completely ignoring what good Savile did and focusing on UNPROVEN arse patting and laying in an unmarked grave makes me sick.

Jeremy Vine today was dispicable too scared to call him a murderer but happily called Savile a "monster" when interviewing Dan Davies.
