I had the same problem a week last Sunday when at 9pm there was -
1. First part of Waking the Dead on BBC1
2. Conspiracy Files (Sept 11th) on BBC2
3. new Lewis series on ITV
4. Gladiator film on C4
... and that was just the mainstream channels !
I think schedulers do it deliberately to try and snatch some of the other audience.

I just don't understand TV Schedulers - Wednesday evenings used to be one of the most barren in terms of programs that one wanted to watch.
Tonight at 9.00p.m.- there are 5 shows on terrestrial TV that are worth watching :
BBC ONE New Street Law - Gordon Newman's Legal
Series with John Hannah
BBC TWO Party Animals - Sparkling political drama
from World TV
ITV Diary Secretary- Comedy drama about John
Prescott
C4 Grand Designs - New series with Kevin
McCloud
C5 Kitchen - 1st part of new drama with
Eddie Izzard.
An embarassment of potential riches all screening at the same time.
