interestingly...the Government wants to deny compensation to those who were abused..but may have gone onto commit crimes.

So you can be an abuse victim but if you have been in jail your status as victim is downgraded.

Thus the mantra "I was abused which destroyed my life so I took to drink and drugs and stole cars etc etc" is becoming very complicated.

Oddly..the Catholic Church who will be paying out the most in compensation states that all victims (including convicted criminals) should be compensated.

Oh the tangled weave web we weave etc etc.

There are unexpected results from media created sensations.
I think #MeToo has now caused two deaths..the American lady who was an agent for the bizarre Rose McGowan and a South Korean actor who committed suicide after being accused.

Due Process and Presumption of Innocence are becoming quaint old fashioned notions.

That's crazy. A licence for every opportunist to come forward.

Check out how quickly someone took the bait after MWT tweeted Rolf Harris's name alongside "Savile" and "sexual offences" on 29 November 2012.

hedda another new case brewing in Sydney re a boy's home in the 1950/60/70s where some boys were obviously abused as a couple of teachers confessed and were jailed.

The school was investigated in the just finished Royal Commission into Institutional Child Abuse.
The Commission Report recommended huge compensation payouts ...the government has fixed the rate at $100,000 at least, but the Commissioners want far more.

Now the police have begun "trawling" for victims and asking them to "come forward" just as the One Hundred (at least) Grand is announced.

recipe for some interesting times....

March 2018: Justice served after child sex abuser convicted 60 years on

"Robin Young’s childhood experiences of his piano teacher sexually abusing him in the late 1950s have haunted him to this day.

For decades, Mr Young did not tell anyone – including his parents – what had happened to him during those piano lessons at his primary school in a remote farming area in western Victoria.

Then in 2014 following some reluctance, he went to the police. Mr Young says he came forward after he was inspired by the women who lodged the initial complaints about Rolf Harris.

He had also seen the publicity on his abuser, Darrell Cocking’s subsequent offences on boys in the 1950s and 1980s, which were dealt with in the County Court at Ballarat in 2010 and 2014.

Cocking, of Ballarat, was finally convicted of child sex offences against Mr Young in the County Court in November.

The frail 82-year-old pleaded guilty to four charges of indecent assault on a male person under the age of 16 committed almost 60 years ago between January 1958 and December 1959."
