Barney Der Spiegel now says that a study for the German Bishops' Conference reports 1,670 cases of sex abuse by clerics on over 3,000 children in the past 70 years.

But Francis is meeting the American delegation TODAY at the Vatican - and not hanging around in his personal investigations.

Of abuse virtually ignored by his every predecessor.
Barney Pope Francis will meet the accusers of systemic child abuse in the US Catholic church, for the first time.

Following the removal of a Cardinal - from Washington (McCarrick; an active abuser) - for the first time.

Together with the independent and damming findings of the Pennsylvania Grand Jury report, bypassing the RCC's refusal to cooperate.

And perhaps the most significant decision of the New York Attorney General to now subpoena all eight NY Catholic dioceses - for abuse related matters, similar to those in next-door Pennsylvania.

None of the mandatory denials from the Church now!

His holiness has entered the ring - a ring where 'mea culpa' is meaningless, and reparations are the only currency.

But nevertheless - a massive change in the Church's stance.

This Pope has courage, like no other...
