In The Know We all know the phrase. Well, according to the Mail there are now 266 ways in which the authorities can break down your door and force their way in, in the Nanny / Police State Britain created by New Labour.

Amongst the most bizarre are -

2004 Asylum and Immigration Act - Enter to search for non-qualified provision of immigration advice or related services

2004 Housing Act - Ascertain compliance with housing standards or related services

2003 Anti-Social Behaviour Act - Inspection of high hedges

2003 Anti-Social Behaviour Act - Carry out work on graffiti

Landmines, anyone? -

1998 Landmines Act - Carry out fact-finding mission in accordance with Ottawa Convention on Landmines

but the best of the bunch is the Bees Act - Check for the presence of foreign bees !
