these storms happen frequently in Australia and are unlike anything I've ever seen for their ferocity.

I recall the daughter of big UK star from the Carry On films telling me that she was staying with her father in the old Sebel Town House in Sydney on one of his tours ..the windows are large and have an expansive harbour view ,when a typical Oz storm began...she was utterly terrified at the thunder an lighting and lashing rain she hid under the bed and had to be coaxed out after the storm finished. (she was 18, not 8 )
