Green Man I saw Banks in a pub and he loved talking to fans old and young, he could put pints away quickly and still stay sober.

RIP
Barney Born in Lancashire, and played in all 1966 games.

Unassuming and modest - would be an exaggeration.

Class - leaving and avoiding headlines - to others less tallented.

So physically strong going for the ball - defenders bumped off him.

Technically very tallented and largely unrecognised.

80 now - hard to believe; I saw him in Marbella fairly recently.

Looked 50...

Brush With Fame Moment # 99

I met Mikhail Gorbachev about 20 years ago and he had the biggest hands I've ever shook. Great slabs of ham that enveloped my delicate mitt and shook it energetically before he moved on as two towering bodyguards glared at me, one passing him some hand cleanser.

Incredibly wide shoulders as well. That strange Russian body-type..squat but wide.

Ray Clemence - another great - fantastic tribute on BBC News.

He is only seventy. I didnt realise he was so young in his heyday.

In the 1966 squad, there were 3 Liverpool team players.

Roder Hunt, Ian Callaghan, Gerald Byrne - and Ramon Wilson of Everton.

Only Roger Hunt played in the final.

Surprisingly Alf Ramsey picked him ahead of Jimmy Greaves, who had been out with an injury.

We all called him "Sir" Roger Hunt, although I dont think he was ever knighted, which was a shame.
