Pope Francis has decided - although he can't find any of his miracles (the usual critical and deciding factor) - that J H Newman is now a Saint.

Oxford alumni and great writer, and philosopher/intellectual. Well ahead of his time in the 19th century.

Many of his publications are still used in higher education, as text books - for both philosophy and religion; he was, at least, new/clear thinking - and innovative.

Why have Catholics changed the rules - to be a Saint, from miracle men - to an articulate, one dimensional good man?

I am confused. I thought the miracles were the whole point of it.

But looking on the bright side, we can ALL be saints now!
wyot They haven't changed the rules it is 2 miracles to be confirmed by the pope. Autocratic power in action. No miracle has ever been proven. It is as much nonsense as ever...But in a scientific age it looks what it is; childish...
