Green Man Bob Geldof abandoned Ireland, insults his fans, hates it when he hypocrisy I'd bought up, he is nasty when he's drunk a prick when he is sober. Boomtown Rats is a dirge ( my opinion of course) and he's just a nasty piece of work all round.

If you see him don't approach him he will try and stare you out like a tabby cat.
Dr Strangelove The sound and mixing engineers are the behind-the-scenes heroes of the pop world; they really do know how to add that certain "je ne sais quoi" to a record to give it that magical hit quality. The thing that struck me about "I Don't Like Mondays" was how they created a school assembly hall piano vibe, which is rather apt considering the subject of the song. The video continued with theme too.
Little Sausage I just listened on headphones to Band Aid 2 1989 single,
It gave me goose bumps.. it really is a magnificent record.

SAW/PWL (and their mixing engineers) really were on fire at that time..

Even though Stock had no formal music training, he really had a grasp on
how music fits together, chords, root and non-root notes, harmony.. all those things..

Seems every pop factory has a limited lifespan in the sun..
The 80’s were one of the golden periods of UK pop, just as the
60’s and 70’s were.

In the 90’s music changed, the underground house music scene took over
and things moved away from that bright high energy pop sound.
Little Sausage Great subject matter JK

I think the SAW/PWL produced Band Aid 2 version is a better record than the first, althoughI don't think it had the impact of the original version.
It's a lot more lively and has better clarity, and besides, they were singing into a Calrec Soundfield Microphone at PWL
which is a beautiful sounding mic.

Boomtown Rats "I Don't Like Mondays" Produced by Phil Wainman

This is a brilliant interview and Phil explains how the finished mix was missing something,
he needed "fairy dust" added to the final mix, and this was added in the cutting room..
You really must watch/listen to this..
