I'm loving this; tonight must have two interesting strands from the perfume bottle to the two Russians. Incredible story; well told. And sorted without having to destroy the economy and kill thousands.
Didn't it ruin Salisbury tourism though and local trade, who even wants to go to Salisbury anyway ?
It's a very soulless and drab city. |

Another excellent episode (last evening/2 of 3) graphically portraying the devastating affects of lethal nerve agents.
Easily transported - and extremely toxic and fast acting - these agents shut down the body's organs, precipitating heart and lung failure.
Salisbury was badly hit (2018) by the poisoning act - small, in the sense that only two individuals were targeted. But the agent was quick to spread.
If these new agents are so powerful - novichok, VX etc. - one has fo have serious concerns about public safety and wellbeing anywhere.
Our public health services, the police and other agencies responded well to the Salisbury danger - as depicted in this 'warts and all' docuseries.
Making most viewers more aware of the life threatening possibilities that surround us from just drops of liquid.
That are much easier to plant than explosive devices - but can be more catastrophic, because of the nerve agents' lethal capability to spread.

Interesting and topical - showing that many procedures and techniques seem to be similar for poisoning and virus infections.
Fast reactions are important in both, as well as quickly identifying who was in close proximity to whom, and when - tracing.
CCTV was particularly helpful in Salisbury - it would appear - as was the closeness of Porton Down. Where the MOD Science and Technology Laboratory is based.
Episode 1 has set the scene for the next two and, in future - when we see individuals behaving oddly on the street, or being ill - we will consider new possibilities to alcohol and drugs!

Terrific so far & makes you wish the same team had handled the Covid19 crisis. |
