I really object to anyone being cancelled. Laurence Fox should be allowed to hold whatever views he wishes and employment should be entirely separate.
Another problem for me is that I don't see how any of this this actually helps people who are less privileged at all? It is more likely to be divisive and alienate people who are by and large would be likely to support some reforms to help the less well off.

Laurence Fox can't now get acting work because he said on Question Time that an audience member calling him a "privileged white male" could be considered racist. This has not only seen him censored (in terms of screen time) but labelled a racist himself.
I attended a conference last year (audience couple of hundred) in London as an audience member and feedback at the end (sent via phone anonymously on a large screen by participants) flashed up: "great to have a conference not run just by middle class, white, middle-aged males".
On the day this passed without a raised eyebrow.
Myself and other colleagues with such innate, unalterable but appalling characteristics (who sometimes are called upon to lead conferences ourselves, and do so out of our own time and goodwill - no more for me with that organisation..
) complained this was attacking all our legally protected personal characteristics; but got a nominal response.
This is the terrifying world where Greg Dyke can be forced to resign because he got his sentence structure wrong re "people" and "colour".
It totally undermines the real battles against racism and sexism. Most of which are less battles now than minor skirmishes, which I think is part of the problem.

Yes it is a scary time at the moment. Another worry for me is the slippery slope. It will start with anti-vaccination but it wont end there, it never does.
